After a few weeks of having cats as our featured pets, this week, we are offering an opportunity to bring Levi into your life, and give him a forever home.

Levi is a big boy, between 60 and 70 pounds, and he's a Rottweiler and Shepard mix. Now don't be fooled by the breed, Levi is one happy fella, he may be big and strong, but he's a sweetheart.

Levi was found as a stray, and wound up in one of those high kill shelters in the south, he was rescued by the AWS, and is now available for adoption.

Levi loves everyone, but would probably do best in a home that does not have cats, though he's actually had a history of having a good relationship with dogs. The AWS is also recommending not bringing Levi into a home with small children, not that he would be mean or aggressive towards them, it's just he's so strong and solid he could hurt them without even realizing it.

Levi is all up to date on his vaccines, and he has been neutered. He's very eager to please, and he's also food motivated. You can check him out right now at the Animal Welfare Society in New Milford.

Now, because of the COVID-19 restrictions, if you're interested in adopting one of the featured pets, any dog or cat at the shelter, you must first fill out an application on their website at aws-shelter.org. Once your application is approved, you can call them at 860-354-1350 and schedule your one-on-one limited contact meeting.

The shelter is always in need of items to help keep the animals safe and clean. Right now, they are looking for bleach, paper towels and dry cat food.

If you can contribute, you can drop off the items at the shelter at 8 Dodd Road in New Milford. Just let them know you're going to drop something off, and you can do it with no contact by just leaving it in front of their building. You can also check the Animal Welfare website for their Amazon wish list, and have the items delivered right to the shelter.
