This week we've got a very special cat that's up for adoption, and she's a polydactyl tabby, which makes her extra cute.

Layla is this weeks featured Pet of the Week. She's about two years old and is a polydactyl, that means extra toes. She was found as a stray and now calls the Animal Welfare Society home, but she would love to change her address and find a forever home of her own.

Layla is happiest when she can explore her surroundings, and she is an expert in finding the best spots to hide. She's a playful girl who enjoys the company of other cats, and would be perfect in a home with children as well. Of course she's had all her vaccines and has been spayed too.

Now, because of the COVID-19 restrictions, if you're interested in adopting one of the featured pets, or any dog or cat at the shelter, first fill out an application on their site at aws-shelter.org. Once your application is approved, you can call them at 860-354-1350 and schedule your one-on-one limited contact meeting.

The shelter is always in need of items to help keep the animals safe and clean. Right now, they are looking for bleach, paper towels and dry cat food.

If you can contribute, you can drop off the items at the shelter at 8 Dodd Road in New Milford. Just let them know you're going to drop something off, and you can do it with no contact by just leaving it in front of their building. You can also check the Animal Welfare website for the Amazon wish list, and have the items delivered right to the shelter.
