Well, it’s not a new question, but it’s so much fun I couldn’t resist revisiting it.

About a year ago, a Connecticut Reddit user who goes by MemeGoddest asked:

Does Danbury Have Gangs?

I’ve been hearing about youth in Danbury supposedly “pretending” to be associated with gangs/gang violence. I grew up in the Waterbury area and am just curious if gangs really do exist in the Hat City.

As a Danbury resident, I have to say—this question made me laugh, but it’s actually a valid one. Teenagers in Danbury are out here 1000% pretending to be hardened criminals with gang affiliations. Stolen Street Valor is sweeping through the Hat City like herpes in The Villages.

The question had me giggling, picturing all the fake shot-callers in the D-Block—but the responses were just as entertaining. Here are a few of my favorites:

blakeusa25: The east side MILFs are rough for sure...

LittleJohnStone: F--- you, Mill Plain Cougars or die.

Tie breaker: I ride with the East Side Milfs all day, bigger booty's.

Sneaky-er: I imagine Danbury gangs to be like West Side Story. Singing, dancing, tapping, and stabbing. I wouldn’t mess with them. I’m a terrible dancer.

Dance is a big deal in Danbury. There are studios everywhere. Honestly, if the Arthur Murray crew ever decided to start some trouble, I’m not sure the city could stop them before things got bloody. They’ve got the numbers. They’d be Coupé Jeté-ing all over our faces without recourse.

Arty0811: There’s like a buttload of gangs in Danbury. One of them wanted me to join because I’m pretty good with a bow staff.

Buttload is slang for as much as you can fit in your butt.

Papabear2two: I work with some guys who claim to be “down,” but I’m not sure if they’re telling the truth or just cosplaying.

Let me let everyone in on a secret: if someone says they’re “not sure if it’s cosplay,” it’s cosplay. Or furry stuff. (The silent killer of all communities.)

Here's some terrifying footage of Danbury's gangs in action.

BORING DISCLAIMER: Yes, some commenters said there are real gangs in Danbury. People warned that you can get messed up here. There were even references to a pretty infamous incident at the mall. Like anywhere else, Danbury has its share of bad apples. There are rough blocks and neighborhoods that can be a little more jagged than others. But it’s pretty simple: don’t run through those blocks acting like a jerk, and you’ll probably be just fine.

Are there people in Danbury with gang affiliations? Probably. But if they’re adults, they’re most likely connected to organizations with real strongholds in cities like Bridgeport, Waterbury, New Haven, or Hartford. There’s no block in Danbury that’s actually run by a gang—I’ve checked more than once. They didn’t come tell you; I’m out in the streets. And I’m not talking about King Street son!

I love the idea of opposing sets wearing different color Abe Lincoln hats meeting at the library to dance in each other's faces.

I'm starting my own gang, the old men of Danbury tired of double-parking. We'll just be out in the streets popping tires between doctors' appointments.

A Curious Excursion in an Underground Brookfield Tunnel

Recently, I was having a discussion with a friend of mine, I told this person I'd accessed some caves and tunnels in my hometown of Brewster, NY which is just over the NY/CT State Line. He knows how much I love local history, and saw how excited I was about this journey. He told me there was an area of Brookfield, CT that I needed to see, one that most residents have never seen. He told me about a tunnel, one that was not far away from where we were sitting. I made note of the conversation and bookmarked the destination for a future trip.

17 Stunning Danbury Photos Along With Random Odd Facts About the City

The day I took this round of pictures (September 15 or 16th I can't remember), the light all over the city was just perfect. The sun was dancing in all the right places on the buildings, the trees and the grass. I said to hell with it, I'm publishing these photos. But what should I write in the description? I decided to pair the images with odd Danbury facts I gathered from prior articles.

Maybe this works out, maybe not at least I can say "look at this!"
