It was a hot night recently in Fairfield, Connecticut on Villa Avenue. On Sunday, May 4th this video was posted to Connecticut Reddit by u/jjdiablo titled Crowds, cars & fires Friday night on Villa Ave Fairfield.

A Reddit user going by u/mrcartmanes aptly noted that in April 2024, the Connecticut House unanimously passed a bill aimed at helping towns and increasing penalties for street takeovers.

What stands out most in that video is how completely unbothered the group seems. There's no visible fear or concern about potential consequences. I feel uniquely positioned to speak on this because I was once a reckless, directionless kid myself. I broke the law, I took risks, and even now, I can’t fully explain why.

But one thing I do remember—there was always a sense of fear about what might happen next. There was always someone questioning our choices, asking if we were really ready to deal with the aftermath. And when things went south, people scattered fast, rushing home to lay low.

What do we always say on the I-95 Morning Show? "Inside good, outside bad." That is our economical way of saying, I'd rather not go out to seek recreation anymore. At home, I can control my environment, keep my family safe and we have about a million ways to entertain ourselves. It's sad that this is what it has come to but who needs the aggravation?
