Imagine having a nice human family, and then one day that all changes and you're now looking to start all over again.

It happens in life all the time where change seems to be a constant, but for your pet change can be very confusing. Case in point is this weeks featured pet, Charlie.

Charlie was living the dream, then divorce hit, and his family split. He found himself looking for a new home at the Animal Welfare Society in New Milford.

Charlie is a 3 year old Boxer Mix. He's about 60 pounds, so he's a big guy. Charlie is very energetic, because of that and his size he would be best in a home without cats, dogs or small children. He walks well on a leash and knows basic commands. He also enjoys human interaction and is currently looking for his NEW FOREVER home!

Of course he's had all his vaccines, and he's already been neutered. So, if you're looking for a faithful companion, then don't say "sorry Charlie", call the Animal Welfare Society and give this friendly guy a second chance at a loving family.

Now, because of the COVID-19 restrictions, if you're interested in adopting one of the featured pets, any dog or cat at the shelter, you must first fill out an application on their website at aws-shelter.org. Once your application is approved, you can call them at 860-354-1350 and schedule your one-on-one limited contact meeting.

The shelter is always in need of items to help keep the animals safe and clean. Right now, they are looking for bleach, paper towels and dry cat food.

If you can contribute, you can drop off the items at the shelter at 8 Dodd Road in New Milford. Just let them know you're going to drop something off, and you can do it with no contact by just leaving it in front of their building. You can also check the Animal Welfare website for their Amazon wish list, and have the items delivered right to the shelter.
