State Doles Out Big Money for Danbury Makeover
Many state politicians see Danbury as the "Crown Jewel of Connecticut."
The state believes in our great city which is why they've kicked in $2 million to help give Danbury a much-needed facelift according to an article in the NewsTimes.
The facelift will include new sidewalks, new crosswalks, streetlamps, murals, and some new trees which will help spiff up the downtown area. Danbury Planning Director, Sharon Calitro told the NewsTimes:
It's all the things that go along with that to create a walkable, refreshed look and infrastructure in downtown to make it more enticing and to incentivize development.
Downtown transportation of all kinds whether by foot, bicycle, train or car will be reconfigured and eventually will lead to the HART PulsePoint transfer area near Kennedy Park all rolled together into the Danbury Transit Station.
Rumor has it that Danbury Mayor, Mark Boughton was quoted as saying:
The state likes me, they really like me!
