It’s Official: New Ramen Spot Finally Opening in Newburgh, NY
It's been a long time coming, but one of Newburgh's most anticipated restaurants is finally opening for business.
Starting a new business is hard no matter what, but it seems that opening a restaurant in the Hudson Valley, NY is particularly challenging. Luckily, that doesn't stop some wonderfully creative people from trying... even if it's taken years.
District Ramen Opening in Newburgh, NY
District Ramen is one of those brave restaurants that seems to have never given up on its dream. Since 2018, there have been rumblings about the new concept from the husband and wife team of Robert Fontaine and Monica Coronatti, and it looks like the day may finally be here. But what about the last time they planned to open?
Years of Delays for District Ramen in Newburgh, NY
Though the owners are scarce on details, they site "many challenges... especially in navigating the politics of a small city like Newburgh" as their main obstacle to making their dream a reality. While the business was originally slated to open in 2022, the new date is just a week away.
Opening Date for District Ramen in Newburgh, NY
Both District Ramen's Instagram page and website announces that their official opening date at 47 Lander Street in Newburgh, NY will be February 14th, 2024. With business hours of 12pm-10pm Tuesday through Sunday, the new restaurant seems to be positioning themselves both as a casual lunch spot as well as a more sophisticated late-night hang.
District Ramen Menu
With appetizers ranging from $5 to $9 and ramen bowls topping out at $17 (before adding extras), the accessible prices will hopefully lead to longevity for District Ramen. While former Newburgh destinations like Mama Roux were stellar dining additions to the area, $18 appetizers and $30+ entrees were cost-prohibitive for many diners.
Surprisingly, the bitter cold in the Hudson Valley has not been a deterrent for new restaurants. With Beso Taco Bar opening last week on the Newburgh waterfront and now District Ramen (hopefully) opening on February 14th, Hudson Valley residents will have some new additions to chose from the next time they want to beat the winter chill with a warm meal.
