I have never been a bartender but lately, it looks like a really fun job. Maybe not on a crazy bar night but when it comes to making signature cocktails it seems like you can be a bit of a mad scientist.

It seems like creativity in cocktails has reached new heights. I am constantly amazed by the various drinks I see being made at Hudson Valley bars. The amount of locally made spirits has really taken making cocktails to a new level.

If I was to design my own specialty cocktail I would be tossed on whether it should be vodka or tequila but one thing I know is it would have a fall theme. One of the best margaritas I ever tasted was made with apple cider.

Over the weekend I saw a cocktail that actually looked like it could walk to your table from the bar. Lately, many drinks have come with lots of shall we say edible accessories. The Olde Savannah Southern Table in Kingston, New York creates a Bloody Mary that is the perfect example. It has crab legs, a lobster tail, and a grilled cheese sandwich on top.

Is it a meal or is it a drink I am not sure but apparently it is on the Sunday menu. It truly is a Bloody Mary ready for some football. Other places are also serving up some drinks that can hold up during sports or even after a long day. Jar'd in New Paltz has its signature Espresso Martini decorated with the bar logo.
