With the hype of all the big game commercials on Sunday, you may have missed Danbury's Mayor, Mark Boughton, who appeared in a commercial for UPMC.

It was back in July 2017 that the Mayor was diagnosed with a large, benign brain tumor. Doctors here told him there was no one in the area that would even try to remove the tumor, and he'd have to look elsewhere for a Doctor qualified to do the surgery. They also told him if left untreated, he may never talk again.

According to patch.com, that's when he turned to renown surgeon Dr. Robert Friedlander from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Friedlander successfully removed the brain tumor, and the Mayor was on the fast track to recovery.

So when it came time for the University to pick a star for their Super Bowl commercial, they looked no further then Danbury and Mayor Mark. How cool is that?

Of course, if you live in the area you know that Mark quickly recovered, won a ninth term as Mayor in Danbury, and now has his sights set on the Republican Nomination for Governor.
