For a short while, it looked like the Bridgewater Fair would be happening this year, but the Volunteer Fire Department has decided it's still not safe.

About a week ago, we did an article on all the Country Fairs returning this year, and the Bridgewater Fair was on that list.

Now the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department has decided that it would be in the best interest to the community if the Fair didn't happen again this year.

In a post on their official website, they issued this statement:

The Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department has decided to not hold the 2021 Bridgewater Country Fair. The safety of our members, volunteers and the community is our # 1 priority.

The statement went on to site the cost of putting on the fair each year, and how 90% of the fair revenue goes to the Volunteer Fire Department's operating budget. The Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department is the last self sustaining Fire Department in the state. The statement also said that in order to raise the proper funds needed to operate the department, instead of the fair, the Fire Department would hold fundraising events this summer that would reflect the spirit of the fair.

The main concern in canceling the fair again this year was the uncertainty of the pandemic in the next few months, with the goal of the Fire Department being the safety and protection of all residents in the Town of Bridgewater.

The new dates for the 2022 Bridgewater Fair, the 71st annual, have been announced. It will happen August 19-21, 2022 at the Bridgewater Fair grounds.
