
Police: Man Found With Over $5,000 in Fake Money on I-84
A man was arrested in the Hudson Valley after police allege they found over $5,000 worth of counterfeit money.
On Tuesday, New York State Police from Brewster arrested Anthony J. Smith, 26, of the Bronx for possession of a forged instrument, criminal possession of a weapon, felonies, criminal possession of a controlled substance and aggravated unlicensed operation, misdemeanors.
Around 2:20 a.m., troopers pulled over a car on I-84 in the Town of Southeast. Police allege Smith had three or more suspensions on his license and was in possession of three oxycodone pills.
A further investigation found Smith was in possession of $5,100 in counterfeit U.S. currency and an illegal knife, police say.
Smith was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bond.
