Darlene Schofield of the Pawling Middle School has been recognized as our WOLF October Teacher of the Month.

Darlene is busy with her 8th grade students at the Pawling Middle School, and she was nomnated by her friend Melissa who had some great things to say about this exceptional teacher.

Darlene is all about thinking outside the box learning. Her ELA students spend 20% of class time pursuing their own passions. Some students are learning languages—Korean, Romanian, Sign Language to name a few. One student is rebuilding a PC. One is studying photography and will photograph staff and students. One hopes to tutor 5th and 6th-grade students. One crochets bookmarks as a cancer fundraiser. One student has already started a school-wide art contest. Personalized learning at its best! She really embraces all her students individual talents and helps enhance them!

It's been more challenging now than ever for teachers, having just come off about a year of distance learning, and now back in the classrooms full time.

Each month, we'll select a different teacher and honor them with a fantastic meal at Barbarie's Black Angus Grill in Danbury. Also, every teacher of the month chosen will get an official 'Wolf Teacher of the Month Certificate' to commemorate the honor.

So, nominate a teacher in your town who does so much in shaping our kids lives, then be listening on the last Friday of each month at 3:20 PM, that's when Bill Trotta will announce the monthly winner.
