We’ve hit an important benchmark in New York state history, and for beer lovers this is great news. According to Governor Cuomo’s office the state is home to 400 breweries and a full list of them can be seen here. This number is more than the previous record of 393 which was set back in 1876.

The Governor states that new licenses encouraging growth in the brewing industry have given rise to the higher number of breweries in the state. Over 200 licesnses were issued since this farm brewery law took effect in 2013.

The really good news here is that the Hudson Valley is home to the most Breweries in the state. Here's the list breaking down the number by region, according to the State Liquor Authority thanks to New York Upstate:

Hudson Valley: 63

Finger Lakes: 59

Capital Region: 46

Long Island: 44

New York City: 42

Central New York: 35

Southern Tier: 35

Western New York: 34

North Country: 22

Mohawk Valley: 20
