One Hudson Valley police department has announced that they will continue to address the community's complaints regarding ATV and dirt bike usage on roadways in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Over the last few years, many Hudson Valley communities have noticed a rise in reported incidents involving people driving unregistered and illegal ATVs and dirt bikes on roadways. Oftentimes the complaints report that the groups of riders are driving aggressively on roads by weaving in and out of traffic and sometimes performing stunts. The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department has reported that as spring approaches, their department will continue to apprehend individuals who are riding illegally on city roadways.

Last year there was an incident involving a group of masked motorcycle riders who surrounded the New York State Police in the Village of Wappingers, New York. The altercation showed the bikers surrounded a trooper, taunting him and yelling expletives. One of the bikers reportedly stole the trooper's hat from inside his police car and proceeded to jump on the back of another bike and speed away as officers chased them on foot. Police eventually apprehended the suspects.
