A Closer Look at a Counterfeit Cannabis Product in Connecticut
Have you ever gotten a close look at an illegal product that is in the news almost every day here in Connecticut?
You may have heard numerous smoke and vape shops across Connecticut have been busted after being caught selling illegal cannabis products. Just this morning, Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Bryan Cafferlli announced that Planet Zaza in East Haven has been snagged allegedly in possession of THC products with counterfeit labels that target children, like Nerds, Peeps, Crayola, and Game Boy. Planet Zaza's Electronic Cigarette Dealer registration has been suspended effective immediately by the way.

Well, through the old "friend of a friend' delivery system that most of us old-school cannabis users have used for decades before legalization, I was handed a package of one of these counterfeit cannabis products. Have you ever seen a closeup of one?
It's easy to see why law enforcement agencies have to ramp up the enforcement of illegal cannabis products in Connecticut, This bag has the real Doritos logo and coloring on the package, it's even got nutritional facts on the back. What it doesn't have is any identifiers as to who, how, and where these cannabis edibles were made.
To the average person, it looks like a travel-sized bag of Doritos, but it's not. Inside the bag, there are 10 corn chips, but they've been infused with 500 mg of THC. At least, you hope so. Could there be 75mg of THC, Mercury, or fentanyl? Who knows?Take a close look at these photos, this is exactly what the Connecticut DCP, and State and local law enforcement agencies are trying to get off of the street.
