Yahoo Report Claims Georgia is Just Like Connecticut, What?
Yahoo recently released an article about the high-cost of living and retiring in Connecticut. The article was called "3 Places to Retire That Are Just Like Connecticut But Way Cheaper." I get what they were trying to do but this thing went off the rails for me immediately.

Yahoo wrote:
An article from CNBC revealed that it (Connecticut) was the seventh most expensive state to retire to in 2023, behind Hawaii and Maryland. If Connecticut sounds like a place you’d like to be but find that the cost of living is too high, read on. We’ve used the cost of housing (own), cost of housing (rent) and healthcare as three metrics for reference points to gather three states that are similar to Connecticut but much cheaper.
The three states they reccomended were:
- Georgia
- Michicgan
- Pennsylvania
We talked about this on the I-95 Morning Show on Monday (6/10/24) and my guy Large Dave made a case for Michigan being similar and you might be able to make an argument for PA but Georgia?
Let's see what is similar about Connecticut and Georgia
- Weather - Nope
- Food - No
- Architecture - Nah
- Political climate - No
- Culture - NO
- Healthcare - No
I understand what they are saying but it's all a dollars and cents comparison, Connecticut and Georgia are way different. Maybe I'm just a homer for the Northeast and Connecticut specifically but it's expensive here for a lot of reasons that all add up to it's awesome.
Want more Connecticut specific news? If so, check out the Ethan, Lou & Large Dave Podcast. The show is available wherever you get your podcasts, including Apple and Spotify. The program is the same one we do on the radio but with limited commercials and no music. You can also listen live by streaming the show on the I-95 Rock Mobile app, or tune into I-95 (95.1FM).
