The #1 Costume at Bethel’s Trick-or-Treat Street
On Halloween day from 1-3 in the afternoon, Greenwood Ave. was packed with families having a great time. It was another Trick-or-Treat Street in Bethel.
This was our fourth year attending this fun event in Bethel. Local businesses hand out candy to kids and some have entertainment to go along with handing out candy. For instance, the dancing gorilla was back this year. He's always a hit with the kids. Kim, who owns The Toy Room on Greenwood Ave., dressed as a cupcake to hand out candy. The kids loved her costume!
It's great to see the business owners get into the spirit and have fun with the kids. It gives a nice small town feel to Bethel and I think that's great.
Before Trick-or-Treat Street started at 1 p.m. there was a magician, games, and a costume contest at the Municipal Center. We didn't make it to the costume contest, but it's always fun to see the costume that won and this year I can see why these people won first place.
For starters, one of them walked, the whole day, on stilts! That's pretty cool, but added to that is the man's daughter who acted as a marionette puppet. So creative and fun!
The creative duo is actually the husband and daughter of someone I have known for years. I didn't recognize them, because their costume was that good. The father and daughter team with the super creative costume was Steve and Kayla Gilbertie.
I don't know how Steve walked around for so long on stilts, but he did it. The last time I saw someone walking on stilts that good was at The Festival of the Lion King show in Disney and that was only a half hour show!
Check out their costume below. It was pretty impressive to see in person!
