Nonstop Flights From Connecticut to JFK Can Be a Game Changer for Local Travelers
I am a gal who loves to travel, so anytime I see travel news, I need to jump right in and see what's going on.
Incase you missed the news yesterday, JetBlue announced that they will be having direct flights from Bradley Intl. Airport in Hartford to JFK in New York City. In the press release, Kevin A. Dillon, A.A.E., Executive Director of the Connecticut Airport Authority said, “Their new service to JFK will not only quickly connect our passengers with New York City, it will also facilitate easy access to JetBlue’s domestic and international network.”

When I originally saw the news yesterday, I saw a lot of people comment on how Connecticut doesn't need a flight to New York since the flight will be about 20 minutes long. What I don't think people realize is how many options of flights there are out of JFK compared to BDL. This is going to open an array of possibilities for Connecticut travelers.
As someone who likes to travel a lot but also likes convenience, it's hard when you're trying to fly to the Midwest or west coast. There are multiple options out of BDL, I won't say there isn't, but the price difference can be pretty large. With this new option, now you can easily have a layover in NYC that will take you to your next destination. If you think about it, parking at JFK will cost you a hefty penny. If you get a driving service to take you, that will also cost a hefty penny. So while the layover may be a tad more expensive than flying directly out of JFK, the convenience factor will be astronomically better.
JetBlue announced that flights to JFK will begin on April 30, 2025 and operate daily year-round. Personally, I'm excited for this. I would much rather park at BDL than JFK, but I like my options at JFK so much more. Anytime there's a new travel announcement that has to do with Connecticut, I'm here for it. The more travel possibilities, the better.
