The first Full Moon illuminated the sky back on January 13th, 2025. The Full Wolf Moon in January has a unique origin story. According to the Farmers Almanac, the January Full Moon got it's name "from Celtic and Old English roots, which European settlers then brought to the New World."
The Farmers Almanac goes on to add that the North American settlers most definitely had some sort of encounter with wolves adding:
At one point, gray wolves were among the most widespread land mammals on our planet. According to the Wolf Conservation Center, gray wolves “inhabited most of the available land in the Northern Hemisphere.”
Needless to say, the Full Wolf Moon is the perfect name for January's full moon.
