Faith Hill Covers Beyonce During Live Show
Faith Hill channeled her inner Bey at a recent live show when she mashed up her tune, “Free," with Beyonce’s “Freedom.” Hill showed off her edgy side or the performance, owning the stage as she began with her song from her 2002 album Cry.
The attitude-fueled anthem is a rally against a tough upbringing, a phoenix-rising sort of battle cry, so it fits well with Bey’s track from the much-acclaimed album Lemonade. Hill performed her tune almost all the way through, but then surprised the audience by injecting the chorus of “Freedom” into the song. Though it may not seem like a perfect blend on paper, the two songs actually meld together pretty seamlessly, creating an even more powerful performance.
See Faith Hill Through the Years:
Hill has been on tour with husband Tim McGraw as part of the Soul2Soul tour, which they recently embarked on together. They’re also gearing up to release their first-ever joint album, including the new singles “Speak to a Girl” and “Break First.” The tour, which will feature openers Cam, Jon Pardi, Brandy Clark and Chris Janson, runs through October.
Hill has also been cooking up a talk show on the side along with fellow star Kellie Pickler, which just got an official launch date of Sept. 18, 2017. Hill will serve as co-executive producer, while Pickler will co-host alongside journalist Ben Aaron.
This is the second time in seven months Beyonce has been recognized in country circles. Her performance with the Dixie Chicks at the 2016 CMA Awards was one nearly everyone was talking about afterward.
