Does Anybody in Connecticut Make Fresh New England Clam Dip?
As I've grown older, my tastes have changed, but one old school delight from the 1960's and 1970's era of cuisine is New England Clam Dip. Back in the day it used to be a regional specialty around these parts, but I can't find it anywhere in Connecticut in 2024, does anybody still make it?

New England Clam Dip is a simple blend of cream cheese, chopped clams, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, onions, and lemon juice. I've made it at home with Lipton onion soup mix, mayo, Old Bay seasoning, and quite a few dry dip mixes that I've found at the Norwalk Oyster Festival, Garlic Festival in Bethlehem, or the package I found at the Strawberry Festival in Torrington last weekend. You used to be able to find Kraft Clam Dip, and I've really missed the Heluva Good New England Clam Dip that was in every supermarket in Connecticut. Do you know what happened with Heluva Good's clam dip? It was pulled from the market in the 2010's due to the parent company's reluctance to comply with FDA regulations, or at least that's what most of my fellow clam dip lovers have reported when I've searched online for it.
There is hope though, you can make New England Clam Dip easily at home, here's a video -
Wouldn't you buy fresh New England Clam Dip if it was available at Tony & Sons in Oakville? City Fish Market in Wethersfield? The seafood counter at Big Y in New Milford? I would. Connecticut has placed ownership on pizza in the past couple of weeks, is it time to own New England Clam Dip?
