Connecticut Named One of the Worst States for a Summer Road Trip
Road trips in the summer are absolutely electric in my opinion.
Windows down, cool air, vibes are great, immaculate playlist, and heading to a destination where you get to chill for a few days. It's one of my favorite things. Don't get me wrong, I'll hop a plane anywhere in a heartbeat, but if someone asks if I want to road trip somewhere for a few days, I'm in.
I saw a study that I thought was rather interesting. WalletHub has a list of The Best and Worst States for Summer Road Trips. Here are some things that I found interesting. New York came in as the number 2 best state for a summer road trip. That came in before the Carolinas? Before Utah? Arizona? Where you see insane mountains? Interesting. I'm not a fan of New York traffic but I guess it's not bad compared to what you're dealing with around the country. The measures included costs, safety and activities.
Rhode Island came in at dead last. Number 50. Worst state to road trip in. And while the beaches there are gorgeous, I 100% agree with this statement. I lived in Rhode Island for 4 years while I was in college, and that is where I learned that I needed to become an aggressive driver to make it safely to my next destination. The traffic is terrible, roads are awful, and the drivers are insane. I would compare driving there to trying to beat "Rainbow Road" in Mario Kart.
Connecticut didn't follow too far before Rhode Island. Our state sits in at number 48. So we come in third for worst state to road trip in. I guess our costs, safety and activity don't compare to the other states around the country. I will say, it doesn't surprise me that much. Everything is expensive here and we don't necessarily have that many "activities" to do along the road trip.
What I also found interesting was within that study, it showed the highest and lowest states for average cost of car repairs and what do you know, Connecticut comes out as the state with the highest cost. So if you're on a road trip and your car breaks down, your outta luck - it will cost you an arm and a leg to repair before you continue on.
Where will you be road tripping this summer? Somewhere in Connecticut, or maybe New York? Let me know.
