Carrie Underwood has been one of the co-hosts of the CMA Awards since 2008, and this year, she says she's finally bringing a plus-one. Underwood's husband, Mike Fisher, recently retired from playing NHL hockey, and Underwood plans to make the most of his newly open schedule.

During a recent visit to Good Morning America with CMA Awards co-host Brad Paisley, Underwood shared that Fisher -- who served as team captain for the Nashville Predators during the 2016-2017 NHL season -- would finally be on hand for the CMA Awards in 2017.

"I'll actually have a date this year," Underwood tells GMA. "My husband is coming!"

"That's right, he's unemployed," Paisley quips, referencing Fisher's recent retirement from professional hockey.

While Fisher has been in attendance with Underwood at many awards shows over the years, his obligations with the Predators have usually precluded his attendance at the CMAs. The NHL season is in full swing by November.

The 2017 CMA Awards are scheduled to air on ABC on Nov. 8, at 8PM ET; the ceremony will take place live at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will host the ceremony for the 10th year in a row.
