Can You Help Feed Your Hungry Neighbors in Danbury and New Fairfield?
This Saturday the Hillside Food Outreach in conjunction with the Connecticut Food Bank will be having a food drive to help feed our hungry neighbors in the Danbury area.
Do you know what it's like to be hungry, to not know where your next meal is coming from? Unfortunately for many in our area this nightmare is all too real.
About 5 years ago my wife and I decided to see what we could do to help those less fortunate. That's when we got involved with the Hillside Food Outreach, and we actually deliver to a number of local Danbury residents each month.
The Hillside Food Outreach provides food for almost 2,500 people in Fairfield and Putnam County, and helps feed those in need who would not be able to feed their families without the help of the Outreach.
Last month when we went to pick up our food to do our deliveries, I noticed supplies on the food shelves were getting low. That's why this latest food drive is important, so we can keep the Outreach shelves fully stocked. See most people only think about food donations during the Holiday season, but hunger never takes a break.
So this Saturday you can help the Hillside Food Outreach replenish their food supply by just stopping by the Stop and Shop on Mill Plain Road in Danbury, or the Stop and Shop on Route 39 in New Fairfield anytime between 9 am and 6 pm and drop off a non perishable food item.
Your donation will help feed some of your local neighbors who count on the Hillside Food Outreach. I hope we can count on your help this weekend.
Here's some more information on how The Hillside Food Outreach brings food to your local neighbors each month.
