You knew it was only going to be a matter of time before we started seeing vaccine segregation, well that time is here.

The Yankees and Mets both announced this week that as of May 19, they can increase fan capacity to 100 percent as long as fans are vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to connecticut.news12.com, all fans that are vaccinated will be put in a special vaccinated section of the ballpark that can be filled to 100 percent capacity. Fans who have not yet been vaccinated will be put in an unvaccinated separate section that will only be allowed to be filled to 33 percent capacity. That section will also include social distance guidance, so fans will be separated by the six foot protocol.

All fans, vaccinated or not, will be required to wear a mask.

The new arraignment may pose a small problem for season ticket holders, especially if some of them are not vaccinated. Seat locations based on the new guidance may have to change as new tickets sold will specify seating sections as vaccinated or non vaccinated.

Yankees President Randy Levine says that after polling fans so far this season, the organization was finding that the majority of fans who have been attending games have already been vaccinated and they are hoping to see that number rise even more as the season continues.

Just in case, the Yankees and Mets are not taking any chances. They are offering free tickets to all fans who get vaccinated at either Yankee Stadium or Citi Field.

As of now, the two local minor league baseball affiliates, the Hudson Valley Renegades, and the Rockland Boulders are still in talks on how to implement these new changes at their ballparks.
