If you've read some of my articles, you know that I always talk about how I love to travel. There are so many unique things when it comes to traveling and I definitely have a few favorites. One of my absolute favorites is seeing how locals live their lives and what their sense of normal is. I like to see what stores they have there compared to what we have here, what restaurants they consider their favorites, secret spots that tourists may avoid, etc. I like to get a look into their life and see if it's somewhere that I can see myself staying.

Something that's always so interesting to me is how specific retailers and chains are only in specific places. In n' Out and Waffle House for example. I feel like we have so much more of a draw to them because we can't access them here. If they were all over the country, would we even bat an eye? Same thing goes for grocery chains and gas stations which leads me to my next point.

Why won't Wawa come to Connecticut?

I usually don't care too much about where I'm getting my gas from. If it's convenient and cheap, it's for me. Wawa is a whole nother story. Anytime I'm in a state that has a Wawa, it's a must-visit. It just makes no sense to me, they're all over the east coast, so why won't Wawa come to Connecticut? I took my question to Google because I needed to see the answer.

Apparently, they used to have stores here in the 90's but decided to pull out and focus on their main states like Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.  Google says they have no plans to add stores here and that it's likely for factors like market analysis and high cost of establishing a new location. This makes me sad because Wawa would thrive here.

I never knew they used to be here though, so I was curious to know where exactly they were. I found a reddit thread talking about the old Wawa's in Connecticut. An old manager jumped in and said that they had 22 locations in Connecticut and they were primarily in New Haven county. 22 locations and I wasn't around for any of it?! What a bummer. That whole reddit thread talks about all of the great things they used to get there and would reminisce on the old locations.

If so many people loved them, why shut them down? I understand Connecticut is an expensive place to be, but I know so many people would choose Wawa over other gas stations. I need to talk to someone and change their minds about making Connecticut their newest location.
