The 2024 Champions of the World were in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024. The UCONN Men's Basketball team was celebrated by President Biden at a White House ceremony for their outstanding achievements this season. Among the attendees was a familiar face from Connecticut.

So, who was the masked individual seen alongside Donovan Clingan, Coach Dan Hurley, and President Biden? It was none other than Danbury Mayor Roberto Alves.

As we were finishing our weekly chat with Mayor Alves, we found out about his trip to D.C. and his attendance at the ceremony. Instead of immediately congratulating him or expressing how impressive it was, I seized the opportunity to reach out to the best man in Connecticut—Dan Hurley.

Lou: Is there anything we missed, that you wanted to tell the listeners?

Mayor: "I just got back, I did a very quick trip to D.C. this week where I was invited to go see the Huskies presentation with President Biden, it was exciting to be at the White House again for that."

Lou: Oh yeah, tell the folks at UCONN to get back to me I messaged them, if you have any contacts over there, we're trying to get Danny Hurley on the phone for an interview.

Dave: That must have been a great thing to go to Roberto, what an honor!

Mayor: "Oh yeah it was really exciting, I can send you some pictures of that Lou. It was incredible but I don't have the direct line to Dan Hurley so maybe we'll send some smoke signals or we'll challenge them to a game of 2-on-2 Lou."

Lou: He's my favorite human in Connecticut, I have an unbelievable man-crush on Dan Hurley, I have no problem saying that.

Mayor: "Tell us about it."

I almost missed what the Mayor said, we should challenge them to a 2-on-2. That is a terrible idea, as with all terrible ideas, I'm in!

NOTE: The Mayor wasn't there just for fun, he was in the nation's capital for an important meeting with Senator Richard Blumenthal to discuss critical projects in Danbury, including FEMA disaster response. I wanted to make that clear because I know people lose their s--- any time they see these guys having a moment of fun.

Moments later, I got a text from New Milford State Rep Bill "Mo" Buckbee who said: "Here's your crush buddy."

Buckbee told me he was not at the White House ceremony but he's met Hurley twice at the Capital.

I don't need to meet Dan Hurley, I just want to interview the man on the I-95 Morning Show and publicly thank him for bringing some respect to the Connecticut sports universe. I need to tell him how much it means to folks around here that he told the Lakers to pound sand and decided to stay at UCONN.

I will book this guest if it kills me.
