The Sawdust Will Fly Along I-84 in Danbury and Brookfield in November
The landscaping along I-84 through Western Connecticut will get going again starting this weekend in Brookfield and Danbury along I-84, the Connecticut D.O.T. Love the smell of sawdust? It's coming.
According to the City of Danbury and the Connecticut Department of Transportation, another round of tree removal will be happening along I-84 East and Westbound in Brookfield and Danbury will start up this Sunday, November 3, and it's scheduled to last for about the next month until December 2, 2024. As with the last giant culling of the dead trees and overgrowth that really opened up the end of Rt. 7 Southbound by the I-84 interchange, the purpose of the work is to create a safe space along the side of the roadway for us to have a safe space if there's any car troubles, or not fly through a tree branch if we're forced onto the side or off the road.
Here's a photo I just found on Google Maps of I-84 Eastbound in the vicinity of Exit 8, and you can see how close some of those trees and overgrowth is to the shoulder area of the highway.
Over the month of November, you may come across a temporary lane closure on either side of I-84 during the evening and overnight hours between 6:30PM and 5AM Sunday to Thursday. No work will be performed during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend, Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 28 for 2024.
Don't you just love the smell of sawdust in the air? The deafening roar of the woodchipper? Enjoy the new views along I-84 in December.
