I recently came across some news that Jimmy John's is set to launch a new sandwich featuring a giant pickle instead of bread. I was so inspired by this idea that I wrote an article, published on October 29th, challenging local delis in Connecticut to follow suit.

While researching, a listener of the I-95 Morning Show mentioned a deli in Brookfield that is already serving pickle sandwiches. I included this tidbit as a brief footnote in my article. Shortly after, the deli contacted the radio station and generously offered to send over a selection of their pickle sandwiches for us to taste!

On Thursday morning, they arrived. Dash N' Dine Deli in Brookfield sent me a chicken cutlet sandwich with a giant pickle in place of bread. Check this beauty out.

Review:

This sandwich exceeded all my expectations! As a huge pickle fan, I can confidently say that nothing beats a sandwich made of pickles. Just a heads-up for anyone planning to dive into one of these: it can get messy. Dash N' Dine uses toothpicks to help with structural integrity, but you'll want to remove them before you take your first bite. That’s when things can start slipping and sliding, but honestly, who cares? I’ve always believed that the messier the meal, the better it tastes. If you enjoy a great Philly cheesesteak, you’ll end up wearing some of it. And if you have amazing wings, you’ll definitely need napkins. I absolutely love this idea and this sandwich—so I highly recommend you grab one right away!

Thank you Dash N' Dine Deli for the delicious lunch. Go check them out for yourself at 540 Federal Road in Brookfield, CT.

In my opinion, nachos are the height of indulgence. If you want comfort food, nachos always deliver. I've been thinking about them all week and I know where I get mine (Pippa's - Danbury) but we've heard my opinions plenty so we asked the listeners of the Ethan and Lou Show what they thought. These are some of answers we got texted to us on the I-95 Rock Mobile app chat feature.

Some of Danbury + Brookfield's Best Churro Spots

A churro is a fried dough dessert found in Spanish and Portuguese cuisine. When covered in cinnamon and dipped in Dulce De Leche, it's one of my favorites. The question with anything worth having is, how far do I have to go to get it? If you live in Danbury or Brookfield, you are not going far at all. And, I'd put our churros in Danbury + Brookfield's up against any churro you can get anywhere. These are some of Danbury + Brookfield's Best Churro Spots.

24/7 Wall Street conducted a study to uncover America's worst pizza. They scoured the internet for negative pizza reviews and compiled a list using the following method:

"consulted pizza reviews from five different food blogs and websites. Given the subjective nature of pizza preferences, we only included pizza chains that consistently ranked near the bottom across multiple sites."

After their investigation, it was revealed that the title of worst pizza in America belongs to three locations right here in Connecticut. Let's count down from 5 to 1 as we reveal the state's most disappointing pizzas and identify their locations.
