Marist College of Poughkeepsie is partnering with Health Quest, a medical network to open a medical college according to NBC 4 New York. It's scheduled to open in July of 2022 with a fraction of the students that it will educate when it's fully up and running in years to come.

The first year it will accommodate 60 students, but when fully operational, 480 students should be in attendance and that would be by 2028. This school of medicine will aim to meet the increased demand for educating physicians. NBC 4 News says citing a study by the Association of Maerican Medical Colleges:

the U.S. may fall short more than 100,000 physicians of its projected need by 2030

It will be the only med school between Valhalla and Albany, New York. Ross Mauri, Marist College's board of trustees chairperson said:

The medical school will have many benefits for our two institutions and, just as importantly, it will have a very positive impact on our region.
