The Latest Connecticut State Police Holiday Traffic Enforcement Statistics

After working extensively around the clock with increased traffic safety patrols, the Connecticut State Police have released their first round of Thanksgiving holiday enforcement statistics.

Between midnight on Tuesday into Wednesday (November 22) and 8:00 AM this morning (November 24), Connecticut State Troopers have issued 311 speeding violations, five seat belt violations, 22 DUI arrests, 696 violations that are considered to be hazardous, such as cell phone use while driving, unsafe lane changes, tailgating, and failure to signal.

State troopers also investigated 235 car accidents, 33 of which had associated injuries. Out of the accidents, there was one fatality. 26-year-old Hope Butler of Warwick, RI passed away after her car traveled off of Route 6 in Killingly and struck a tree.

The State PD says that the increased Thanksgiving holiday traffic enforcement initiative will continue through 11:59 PM on Sunday night (November 26).
