The latest data, pulled from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, shows some states are seeing a serious spike in people saying “I’m out” to their bosses. Whether it’s burnout, better offers, or just wanting something different, folks are still walking away from the 9-to-5 grind in HUGE numbers.

Leading the pack? Iowa. The quit rate there jumped by a wild 0.8% between February and March 2025.

Here are the Top 10 states with the biggest increases in job quit rates:

  1. Iowa – up 0.8%

  2. Illinois – up 0.5%

  3. Connecticut – up 0.4%

  4. California – up 0.3%

  5. Colorado – up 0.3%

  6. Kansas – up 0.3%

  7. Delaware – up 0.2%

  8. Indiana – up 0.2%

  9. Maryland – up 0.2%

  10. Massachusetts – up 0.2%

Bottom line: It’s 2025, and job-hopping isn’t slowing down. Some states are seeing a surge of workers heading for new opportunities, while others seem to be calming down a bit. Either way, the labor market is still on the move.

Job-hopping is actually beneficial to today's employee, or at least I've read as much. When we were young, showing stability and loyalty was a plus on a resume but the whole game has flipped.

It would have been nice to know, you know when we were young. Maybe someone could have said, everything you're being taught now will be considered antiquated, rude, hurtful and damaging to your career and personal life. T's & P's (Thoughts and Prayers) y'all!
