Brookfield's Peter Brady is the man behind the annual tradition that helps the elderly and those in the community that need help raking their leaves.

According to patch.com the Annual Rake & Bake event began with Brady and his family members helping two elderly parishioners of St. Joseph’s Church rake the leaves from their yards. Afterwards, the group rested and enjoyed a hot dog together and the Annual Rake & Bake was born.

This year, over 1,000 area residents will gather at the Brookfield High School gym to care for more than 80 properties in Brookfield and surrounding towns. Afterward, they will return to the gym for food and neighborhood bonding.

This years event happens on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Volunteers meet at the Brookfield High School Gym to be assigned to a group and find out where they will work.

Here's an NBC Nightly News feature story from a few years back that spotlights the guy they call  “The Handy Dandy Handyman".
