Satellite Colliding with Earth Could Hit New York City Region this Weekend
New York is in the trajectory of a falling Chinese satellite that is no longer under control, according to a report cited by The New York Post. The satellite is likely to collide into the Earth during Easter weekend, but don’t panic, everything’s going to be ok.
It’s the Tiangong-1 satellite weighing in a 9.4 tons, and it’s supposed to enter earth’s atmosphere sometime between Friday March 30th, and Tuesday April 3rd. The European Space Agency has been tracking the satellite which contains super toxic materials. Where and when it will crash is unknown but The Daily Mail reports:
It has the highest chance of crashing along a narrow strip around latitudes of 43 degrees north and south. This includes a number of highly populated cities including New York, Barcelona, Beijing, Chicago, Istanbul, Rome and Toronto.
Like I said, everything’s going to be just fine. We’re not in danger. The chance of being hit by anything from it is: “a million times smaller than the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot” says the New York Post. Anything entering the atmosphere will most likely burn up on impact (whew), and it may light up the sky where it impacts the earth.
