This week, the City of Danbury got some new help in the fight against crime. According to a press release, Mayor Dean Esposito appointed a new group of police officers to the Danbury Police Department.

These new officers bring almost 30 years of experience to the Danbury Police Department. From the press release and Mayor Dean Esposito:

“These talented and qualified officers bring a broad range of valuable skills and diverse experience to the Danbury Police Department. They will be tremendous assets to the Department and to the Citizens of Danbury. We are proud and honored to welcome them to our City, and look forward to recruiting and hiring more qualified police officers to help to continue to keep Danbury safe,”

As you can see in that statement that they are not quite yet done recruiting and hiring new officers for the force. As of now, with the new additions, the department has 142 officers and has a goal of meeting the authorized capacity of 160. Here is a rundown of the "rookies" to the Danbury Police force:

Officer Kevin Jarrin served as a Police Officer with NYPD for three years and previously worked as a security guard at a hospital for seven years.

Officer William Gillespie served as a Police Officer with NYPD for two years and has donated his time to the Cortland Manor, NY volunteer fire department for seven years.

Officer Michael Brown served as a Police Officer with NYPD for one year, previously working as a Police Officer in both Eastchester, NY, and in Tuckahoe, NY.

Officer Jeffrey Pichardo served as a Police Officer with NYPD for seven years and is certified as a First Responder in First Aid/CPR/AED.

Officer Justin Revan served as Police Officer with NYPD for two years and previously worked in retail for over 10 years.

Officer Terrence Lott served as a Police Officer with the City of Waterbury for four years where he also worked with the Police Athletic League (PAL).

Officer Abo Niang served as a Police Officer with NYPD for two years.

Officer Justin Orlanski served as a Police Officer with New Orleans, Louisiana Police for six years, before that, he served as an EMT in New York.

Officer Angel Rodriguez served as a Police Officer in Dekalb County, Georgia for two years.
