Mom Delivers Baby in Connecticut Hospital Parking Lot During Snow Storm
This baby didn't care. It was a parking lot in the middle of a Nor'easter. When it's time, it's the time!

Labor came quickly for Lebanon, Connecticut's Kaitlyn Vacchina, on the day a major snowstorm was getting worse by the minute. Kaitlyn's husband David rushed her into the car as her contractions became more intense.
Just when they thought they were home free as they pulled into the ER at Backus Hospital in Norwich, the baby couldn't wait. David sprinted into the ER yelling that his wife was having a baby.
At first, a hospital staff member had no idea what had just happened when they asked if they needed anything, and David answered, "towels, blankets, doctors!!" As David got back to the car, the baby was on its way out. David told NBC Connecticut,
I caught the baby and put the baby on mommy's belly.
The ER's doctors and nurses immediately sprang into action and rushed out to the car when someone yelled, "The baby's out, the baby's out!" Dr. Theresa Adams gently cut the umbilical cord as the hospital staff helped get Kaitlyn into the emergency room.
This reminds me of a story when our daughter Allie was born 31-years-ago in a comfy hospital birthing suite that had a TV. As Mindy was getting ready to give it a go, the obstetrician and I just happened to be watching "The Oprah Winfrey Show" when all of a sudden Mindy yells, "Hey, I'm having a baby here! Can we all just focus?!"
Baby Molly Joyce was just fine, weighing in at 8 pounds, 3 ounces. Mom and Dad are doing okay as well. Dr. Adams told NBC Connecticut that after treating so many COVID patients, this was a moment of pure joy she will never forget. David was also incredibly emotional when he said,
To actually bring your daughter into the world in your own hands was a surreal experience and there are no words for it.
