I'm very excited for Connecticut's New Britain Bees Baseball team. It was a lot of heartbreak when the city of New Britain lost the team that shall remain nameless. But the powers that be, including the cities tenacious Mayor Erin Stewart persevered, and low and behold, baseball is going strong. This tidbit of info is just another feather in the cap!

The Hartford Courant reports that Connecticut's New Britain Bees baseball team has the son of a legend on their roster for this season. 22-year-old  Manny Ramirez Jr., is playing professional baseball for the first time and in the Atlantic League. The New Britain Bees manager Wally Backman told courant.com:

His role is going to be as a bench player. He’ll see some playing time at first base as well

Everyone has to start somewhere no matter what their chosen path is. I have to say it's pretty exciting to see how things develop for Manny Jr. on a team that includes some veteran pros and even a few former players from the majors trying to get back in. Here's the New Britain Bees Roster.

The New Britain Bees opening night home game is tonight at 6:30, where it's also Star Wars night and a special celebration for New Britain Mayor, Erin Stewart's birthday.

To see a listing of all game dates and times, as well as to purchase tickets, go to nbbees.com. Cheer on Manny Jr. when he does get the chance to take to the field, and keep your eyes peeled for his amazing dad, because you just never know when Manny senior might be sitting in the stands.

Here's a quick video of Manny Jr.'s thoughts on the game from a couple years back:
