The Kelly Clarkson Show Spotlights Wappingers Falls, NY Nonprofit
The Kelly Clarkson Show put the spotlight on a special nonprofit right here in the Hudson Valley.
Unshattered Helps Women in Recovery in Wappingers Falls, NY
Unshattered is a nonprofit organization based in Wappingers Falls, New York that works with women in recovery. Founder and CEO Kelly Lyndgaard says the mission at Unshattered is to "end the addiction relapse cycle" and they do so by providing full-time employment for women in recovery as long as they want to.
The Unshattered website explains that the employees spend "10% of their paid hours receiving personal and professional education to help them grow and thrive." At Unshattered the staff makes premium sustainable handbags, made of upcycled materials like interiors from luxury cars, and in the process create "opportunities for women overcoming addiction and trauma to thrive."
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Lyndgaard and the women of Unshattered shifted gears and created masks to donate to the community which in turn kept her staff employed.
Earlier this week, Unshattered took to their social media accounts to share that the story about their nonprofit would get the spotlight on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Wappingers Falls, NY Nonprofit Gets National Spotlight
Lyndgaard joined Kelly Clarkson on stage at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City during a segment called Rad Humans. In the segment, Clarkson gives the spotlight to someone who does something unique and special for their community. So of course, Unshattered was the perfect fit.
After explaining to Clarkson how Unshattered works and what they do Lyndgaard gave Clarkson her very own Unshattered bag. Then, after teaming up with Southwest Airlines, Unshattered gifted the audience with their very own toiletry bag.
With that, Southwest also donated leather from over 3,000 airplane seats to be used by Unshattered while crafting future bags.
But that's not all!
Kelly Clarkson shared with Lyndgaard that Southwest Airlines was also gifting Unshattered a $100,000 grant. The announcement shocked Lyndgaard and brought her to tears. Clarkson goes on to commend Lyndgaard for her empathy and being a rad human.

We reached out to Lyndgaard after her episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show aired and she tells us:
We're so thrilled to have the support of Southwest Airlines to help up grow out organization so that we can serve even more women. And we're so honored to be a part of the Hudson Valley who generously supports our mission and our team. We are grateful.
