Interstate 684 Near I-84 Named Among Most Dangerous in Putnam County
During a recent news conference regarding New York State's most dangerous highways, a few of them near us were named.
According to The Putnam Daily Voice, The State Department released statistics on the most dangerous highways, and named Interstate 684 near the I-84 interchange as the most accident prone highway in Putnam County.
In Westchester County, the most dangerous highway includes the Hutchinson River Parkway near Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains, just past the end of 684.
According to The Daily Voice, Sen. Chuck Schumer asked the Federal Highway Administration to do a road safety audit and develop ways to possibly improve safety on roadways throughout Putnam, Westchester, and the Lower Hudson Valley.
It seems like everyday, we report crashes and incidents in Brewster at the intersection of 684 and I-. I've always thought that giving that exit another lane, and making the turn onto I-84 less drastic, would help. We'll see!
