Is there anything more annoying than getting stuck in traffic on the weekend? I expect it Monday through Thursday, but Friday, Saturday and Sunday? I have a heads up for you: If you have any Halloween party plans the weekend before this year, you might want to avoid I-84 through Waterbury.

The multi-year, multi-million dollar Mixmaster/I-84/Rt.8 interchange rehabilitation project in Waterbury is actually nearing completion. But in the meantime, the Connecticut Department of Transportation and mixmaster-rehab.com are warning us ahead of time about an upcoming daytime project that will close multiple lanes along 84 East and Westbound through the entire weekend leading up to Halloween 2023.

Beginning at 10PM on Friday, October 27, and lasting until 6AM Monday, October 30, 2023, multiple lanes of I-84 East and Westbound will be closed in order for spiffy new waterproof membranes to be installed onto the rehabilitated bridge decks in preparation of paving. mixmaster-rehab.com also reports that the reason that this work must be performed in the daytime hours is due to temperature and dew point restrictions that are needed for the new membrane to properly adhere to the decking.

If you were wondering what was happening in Waterbury on I-84 this past weekend, (October 13-15, 2023), it was the exact same thing that they're planning to do October 27-29, and again from November 10-12, 2023. I heard from multiple friends that 84 East was backed up beyond Exit 17 in Middlebury into downtown at times.

With Halloween falling on Tuesday this year, stay off of 84 if you have a party scheduled in Waterbury, or at least leave yourself a few minutes, you don't want that candy to go to waste.

4 Halloween Attractions Just a Short Ride From Danbury, CT

I love and want the best of every experience, including Halloween attractions. What makes something "better" or "best" for me has a lot to do with how close it is to my bedroom. I have no interest in driving all over the State of Connecticut to find a Halloween experience. If you're anything like me you'll love the "4 Halloween Attractions Just a Short Ride from Danbury, CT."
