Fun Bethel Restaurant Brings You Back in Time [PHOTOS]
Not too long ago, I wrote about some new eateries that opened in Bethel recently. The downtown Bethel area has a really good selection of restaurants and it always smells really good downtown. Yesterday, the kids and I went to a favorite of ours.
The Sycamore Drive-In has been opened since 1948 and the decor inside the restaurant brings you back in time. We love all the fun decorations and always end up noticing something new when we go there. From old gas pumps to articles about the restaurant over the years, there are lots of different decorations that can make for some great conversation starters.
Something that I find really cool about this restaurant is that they still offer car-hop service. We've never tried this option, but I love that they still offer this! Plus, they have the "Cruise Nights" during the summer. Walking around and looking at the classic cars is always a good time.
The Sycamore also has some games in the back dining room too. There's a Pac-Man arcade game and a claw game. My daughter loves to play the claw games and actually won a little stuffed toy while we were there yesterday.
The menu for the Sycamore has burgers, fries, hot dogs, salads, sandwiches, different specials, and more for lunch and dinner. They also serve breakfast and have a good selection on that menu too. My favorite is the Dagwood Burger with a side of curly fries and a mug of their homemade root beer. Love that root beer!
There really is a hometown feel to the Sycamore. They keep the restaurant to the "50s style" and the staff is always super friendly when you are in there. The friendliness of the staff and the fact that the restaurant has been around since 1948 gives you a very comfortable feeling when you dine there. Santiago, who helped us yesterday, was super friendly and helpful. He even gave the kids some stuffed toys he had won out of the claw machine! Thanks Santiago!
