Freeze Warning Issued Tonight For Connecticut
You knew it was coming, so get ready as temps drop tonight, and we get our very first freeze warning of the season.
Actually, it's a freeze watch for most of the area, and that means temperatures will drop overnight and could produce frost. The warning is for Litchfield County where temperatures are expected to be in the upper 20s.
According to the National Weather Service, when a freeze watch or warning is posted, it means temperatures could fall to 32 degrees or below in areas, and that means you need to take in or protect your sensitive plants. These conditions could kill crops and other vegetation. It could also mean frost on your car windshield when you head out in the morning.
With temperatures in the 30s, plus a northwest wind gusting to 29 mph, tonight’s wind chill will make it feel like 25 degrees, and (are you ready for this?) there’s a chance of some snow flurries in the northwest hills of Connecticut Thursday night if lake effect moisture makes its way farther south.
Expect the coldest temps of the year so far Thursday morning between 4-9 am.
