Famous Connecticut Ghost Hunter Lorraine Warren Dies at 92

One of the world's most famous paranormal investigators, Lorraine Warren, has died at the age of 92.

According to a social media post from her son-in-law, Tony Spera, the renowned Connecticut resident died peacefully in her sleep Thursday night, April 19. Spera went on to say that Warren, "was a remarkable, loving, compassionate and giving soul. To quote Will Rogers, she never met a person she didn’t like. She was an avid animal lover and contributed to many animal charities and rescues. She was wonderful and giving to her entire family."

Lorraine Warren was born Lorraine Rite Moran in Bridgeport back in 1927. She and her husband, Ed Warren, were the founders of the New England Society for Psychic Research and for more than half of the past century, have been considered trailblazers in the world of paranormal investigating.

Having investigated 10,000-plus cases of hauntings and ghost activity, Lorraine and Ed Warren have penned many books about their life's work. They have also served as the inspiration for countless documentaries, feature films and TV shows, including The Amityville Horror  franchise, 2013's The Conjuring and its subsequent prequels and spin-offs. In The Conjuring, Lorraine Warren was portrayed by critically acclaimed actress Vera Farmiga.

One of the Warrens' most notable local investigations was Brookfield's "Demonic Possession" murder trail, during which she reflected on a time when she, along with her husband Ed and four Catholic priests, were present during an attempt to perform an exorcism on 11-year-old David Glatzel. "While Ed interviewed the boy, I saw a black misty form next to him." Warren explained. "Soon, the child was complaining that hands were choking him. He said he had the feeling he was being hit."

Lorraine Warren will long be remembered as a passionate and kind individual who dedicated her life to her work and those affected by it. May she rest in peace.
