More Than 15,000 of Deli Meat Recalled In New York State
A Canadian company is recalling deli lunch meat products due to potential contamination from an allergen.
Sofina Foods Inc., based in Markham, Ontario, Canada has issued a recall for 15,165 pounds of ready-to-eat mortadella deli meat. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the deli meat products involved in the recall may contain pistachio, a known allergen. The tree nut allergen is not declared on the product label. The mortadella products were sent to distribution centers in New York, as well as, California, Illinois, Michigan, and Pennsylvania to be sold in retail delis and served in food service locations.
The products subject to the recall were produced on March 27, 2023, March 30, 2023, and April 4, 2023. The following products are subject to recall:

- Various weight cases of "MASTRO MORTADELLA PRODUCT OF CANADA" with product code 10307, lot code BE170560, BEST BEFORE 2023 AU 02 containing 7.6 kgs. clear plastic packages of "IMPORTED MASTRO MORTADELLA PRODUCT OF CANADA" with EST 224, "BEST BEFORE MEILLEUR AVANT" date of 2023 AU 02, and lot code BE170560.
- Various weight cases of "MASTRO MORTADELLA PRODUCT OF CANADA" with product code 21130, Lot Code BE170422, BEST BEFORE 2023 JL 27 containing 4 kgs. clear plastic packages of "MASTRO MORTADELLA PRODUCT OF CANADA" with EST 224, "BEST BEFORE MEILLEUR AVANT" date of 2023 JL 27, and lot code BE170422.

Any consumer who has purchased this product should throw it out or return it to the place of purchase. Food service locations should not serve the product as it could adversely affect a person with a tree nut allergy.
