Local police are looking to the public for help in identifying the driver of an ATV who they say is responsible for killing a family's beloved dog.

I just lost my almost 16 year old Chihuahua two weeks ago, so this story truly breaks my heart. We received a request for assistance from the Danbury PD this morning regarding an incident that occured last night, February 12, around 8:00 PM.

A dog was struck and killed by a quad type ATV along Jackson Drive in Danbury. The operator of the vehicle fled, and Danbury PD is looking for your assistance in finding the person responsible for this alleged crime.

Their investigation indicates that the operator of the ATV likely lives in the general area of Jackson Drive, Tamanny Trail, and Great Plain Road. Area residents have said that there are trails in that area that are frequently used by ATV's and motorcycles.

If you saw an ATV being operated in that general area, in that general time frame last night, or, you have info that can lead to the identity of the ATV driver, please contact Danbury Police Officer Michael Weaver at m.weaver@danbury-ct.gov.
