Danbury Landmark Widow Brown’s Set to Celebrate 40th Anniversary
One constant on the Danbury restaurant scene has been the popular Widow Brown's Cafe across from Stew Leonard's on Federal Road in Danbury.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the restaurant and bar, and some big celebrations are planned for early June.
Owner, Aura Showah, operates Widow's with her son, JT, and says of the bar's long-running success:
Our goal is to make our customers comfortable and feel as if they are a part of the Widows' family. In return, we've enjoyed 40 years of customer loyalty, so we ourselves become an important part of our community. Some say 'Life begins at 40,' so Widow Browns looks forward to many years to come.
Widow's has an excellent and constantly changing beer selection, live bands on the weekends, open mic night on Sundays, and trivia on Tuesdays. Plus, in my opinion, they make one of the biggest and best burgers in the Danbury area.
I've been going there for years, and in fact, Thursday nights at Widow's used to be a ritual for me and my friends, who would solve all the problems of the radio station -- and the world -- over a couple of pitchers of beer back in our younger days.
The Showah's have special anniversary parties planned for Friday, June 9, and Saturday, June 10. Here's to 40 more years. Cheers!
