Danbury's Bravest were at it again this morning, as they rescued an entrapped victim from a car following a serious crash.

According to a social media post from the Danbury Fire Department, they, along with local police and emergency medical services responded the area of West St. and Pleasant St. after receiving a report of the accident in the early part of Saturday morning (April 6).

A small convertible, which judging by the photo appears to be a dark colored BMW, reportedly collided with a telephone pole, then a wooden fence, a mailbox, a sign, a steel pole and two stonewalls before coming to rest up against a small tree on the side of a house.

The first to arrive at the scene were Danbury police officers and upon arrival, they say one of the crash victims had gotten out of the car, while another was trapped inside the vehicle.

Using the Jaws of Life, the life-saving tool that members of the DFD just recently received a Green Cross Award for implicating, the responding firefighters removed the passenger door. From there, they had to use other special tools to free up the victim's legs, which were reportedly tangled up with the crushed floorboard of the car. The report also says that the rescue efforts in this case were made even more challenging by the fact that one of the front tires was actually impaled by the floorboard.

All things considered, the victim was pulled out of the crushed car very quickly and was treated by EMS from Danbury Hospital.

The second victim was then transported from the scene to the hospital by another ambulance.

The investigation of the crash is now in the hands of the Danbury Police Department, and we wish those affected by the crash a speedy recovery.
