What's left of the Seaside Sanatorium sits on the coast of Long Island Sound in Waterford, Connecticut. As you stand on the shoreline at 36 Shore Drive, looking out at Long Island Sound, you can feel the relentless wind and the spray of the waves.

This mammoth historic building continues to rot away as attempts to tear it down to transform the land into a "passive" state park continue to fail. According to Hearst Connecticut Media, the latest roadblock comes from a developer who is suing the state, claiming that the Sanatorium's buildings are still worthy of saving.

The developer, Mark Steiner, claims that for two decades, the state failed to maintain the property surrounding the Seaside Sanatorium, which has caused the buildings to fall into decrepit conditions. The buildings were scheduled for demolition in February of 2023 to make way for Seaside State Park.
