He'd get my vote.

Given the hell that was Dr. Petit's life during the horrific event that forever altered his life on that fateful day in 2007, it's a testament to his family, faith and spirit that he has moved forward in such a positive way.

To me, William Petit is an example of what a human can endure and still be able to rebuild a life. My heart is full of both sadness and admiration for him, as is, I believe much of the countries. The nation was touched by the home invasion tragedy that brutaly took the lives of Dr. Petit's wife Jennifer and their two daughters Hayley and Michaela.

Now comes word from nbcconnecticut.com that Petit is thinking about a run for Congress for the fifth congressional district seat being vacated by Elizabeth Esty, who is under fire for her handling of harassment complaints in her office. She's not seeking re-election.

Right now Dr. Petit is serving his first term in the state House.
