Connecticut’s Skin Cancer Rate is Number 2 in Nation
Hearing this news shocks me, because, I would never think Connecticut would land at the top of this list. It’s scary to think that we’re number 2 on the national list of states with the most skin cancer cases. This information comes to us via a new study by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, and was reported by HartfordBusiness.com.
The study said that the state exceeded the national rate of this cancer by a significant amount. Connecticut stands at 5.6 percent the nation’s average is 4.3 percent. I wasn’t surprised that Florida was number one on the list, however following Connecticut’s number 2 status, Rhode Island is at number three, followed by Vermont.
The diagnosis of the most dangerous form of skin cancer, melanoma, went up by 7 percent in Connecticut in the last four-years.
As we enjoy a nice warm weather weekend, please be sure to remember your sunscreen!
